The Real Day 1

Hey everybody. Family, friends, relatives who we saw this morning, strange internet passerby. It's David (as will be usual I'm sure) and I have a report on today's adventures...which have been decidedly slim. We woke up at 7:30, got the tire changed on the Honda, had lunch with Uncle Jerry and the rest at Jakie's house, then drove for a while towards Pierre, South Dakota. We were supposed to stay the night in Pierre but it's been wet and cloudy and generally sombre in mood. So instead of pull out the camping stuff and put it away all soggy in the morning we are in the van and driving (as of this writing, not posting) to Rapid City, SD with a possible stop in (the?) Badlands National Park.

We also saw this big, weird machine, but I'll let you look at the pictures.

But, we did get a chance to stop and ride the motorcycles around a little bit, which  was fun, though a little underwhelming. Basically it was a bunch of hills and trails with mud gumming up the wheels to the point where it was like riding on ball tires over a newly waxed floor, crazy slippage! But if you went fast enough at least it would fling it off all over the place. While it was difficult to really go, the challenge added to the fun a little bit, and the terrain was cool. Mostly a bunch of steep and thin hills that shoot out from the bigger hill. It's kinda hard to describe, and if it was dry it would have been really sweet! But alas, twas not the case. Either way it was cool, even though unloading and packing up the bikes probably took longer than the actual time we spent riding.

Here are some pics.

So that's it for now! I'll try and get another post out quick (while I'm still at Culvers). Later!
